A Parishioner's Prayer

A Prayer Warrier
Barbara Brandyberg

Good Afternoon ☀️🤲🙏🏾☦️❤️

06 September 2024

Luke 5:34-35 Jesus answered the Pharisees, “Can you make the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? …. the days will come, and when the bridegroom is taken away from them, then they will fast in those days.”

To walk as a disciple with Jesus is to experience a whole new joy of relationship akin to the joy of the wedding party in celebrating with the groom and bride their wedding bliss. For the disciple there is both a time for rejoicing in the Lord's presence and celebrating his goodness and a time for seeking the Lord with humility and fasting and for mourning over sin.

Lord, let us not lose sight of your presence with us and the wisdom, knowledge, grace and strength we received from being with you. When sin and troubles enter our hearts and lives, let us remember the treasures we found in your presence and seek forgiveness and mercy through prayer and reconciliation.

Luke 5:37-38 Likewise, no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins,

and it will be spilled, and the skins will be ruined. Rather, new wine must be poured into fresh wineskins.

Thank you Lord Jesus for giving us wisdom so we can make the best use of both the old and the new. Let us not hold tight  to the past and to be resistant to the new action of his Holy Spirit in our lives. Make our hearts open and ready to receive the new wine of the Holy Spirit. and  grow in the knowledge and understanding of God's word and plan for our lives.

In the Name of the Father and  of The Son and of The Holy Spirit. Amen.

Empowered by The Holy Spirit and God’s Holy Word.

Encouraged by Laudate’s prayers and reflections.
