Ash Wednesday and the First Week of Lent

As we received ashes on Ash Wednesday, we were reminded of a truth both humbling and hopeful: we belong to God, and we are called back to Him with our whole hearts. The cross traced on our foreheads is not a mark of shame, but a sign of love—a quiet invitation to begin again.
Stepping into the first week of Lent, we enter a season of renewal. These early days encourage us to pause, to breathe, and to let God’s grace meet us right where we are. Lent is not about doing more; it is about opening ourselves to transformation—through prayer that deepens our trust, fasting that frees our hearts, and acts of charity that draw us closer to one another.
May this sacred beginning awaken in us a desire to walk more closely with Christ.
May our Lenten practices be simple but sincere.
And may we discover, day by day, that God is already near, guiding us toward healing, mercy, and Easter joy.

Prayer for February and the Beginning of Lent
Gracious and ever‑loving God,
As we enter the month of February, we pause to breathe in Your peace and breathe out our worries. Thank You for carrying us through the first weeks of this year and for inviting us now into a season of deeper reflection.
Bless this month with clarity, courage, and compassion.
Let February be a time of steady growth—where small acts of kindness take root, where patience blossoms, and where Your light guides our choices. Warm our hearts even in winter’s chill, and help us notice the quiet ways You are present each day.
As Lent approaches, prepare our spirits for the journey.
Teach us to return to You with sincerity and trust.
Open our hearts to repentance that heals, fasting that frees, and prayer that draws us closer to Your heart.
Strengthen us to let go of what burdens us and to embrace what brings life.
Walk with us through these forty days.
Renew our hope.
Deepen our faith.
Shape us into people who reflect Your mercy in all we do.
May this month lead us gently toward Easter joy, and may Your grace accompany us every step of the way.
Amen.
